How loot drops work

$GRIND is a StonkFun reward coin. $GRIND doesn't run its own payouts. StonkFun turns the 3% transfer tax into GP and, each time the pot fills, splits it across every eligible holder in proportion to their balance. This page explains that algorithm step by step, with the exact numbers StonkFun uses.

1. The drop loop

Every drop is the same six-step cycle. Steps 1–3 fill the pot; steps 4–6 empty it.

  1. Tax is withheld 3%

    Every $GRIND transfer (buys, sells, even wallet-to-wallet) withholds 3%. It stays inside the token itself (a Token-2022 transfer fee), not in anyone's wallet. Only StonkFun's withdraw authority can collect it.

  2. Sold for GP when worth selling

    StonkFun harvests the withheld $GRIND and sells it for GP, the token $GRIND is paired with, once there's enough to be worth a swap. Until then it shows as “tax waiting to sell”.

  3. The pot fills ~0.1% of mcap

    The GP collects in a pot. No drop happens until the pot reaches its threshold, which is about 0.1% of $GRIND's market cap, never less than $50 and never more than $50,000. A bigger market cap means bigger but less frequent rounds.

  4. Snapshot $20+

    The moment the pot is full, StonkFun reads every $GRIND balance. A wallet is eligible if it holds at least $20 worth right then. How long you held doesn't matter. Liquidity pools, vaults, other program-owned accounts and StonkFun's own wallets are skipped.

  5. Split pro rata −2.5%

    An operating fee of 2.5% covers network and running costs. The rest is divided among the eligible wallets by balance. Hold 1% of the eligible supply and you get 1% of the pot. There are no caps, bonuses or lottery.

  6. GP lands in your wallet ≥ $0.02

    Payouts go out automatically, about 17 wallets per transaction, until everyone is paid. You don't claim anything. A share worth less than $0.02 isn't sent. Occasionally a round pays in $GRIND itself instead of GP, when the platform holds a large share of supply.

2. The formula

Written out, one round is only a few lines. Every symbol below is something you can see on the live pot.

net = pot × (1 − 0.025)

eligible = wallets where balance × price ≥ $20

your drop = net × your balanceΣ eligible balances

sent only if your drop ≥ $0.02

Two useful numbers come straight out of it:

  • Smallest stack that gets paid = the larger of $20 ÷ price and $0.02 × Σ eligible ÷ net. In a big round the $20 rule decides. In a small round the $0.02 floor can push it much higher. On a real GP round of $1,218, you needed about $306 of GP to receive anything.
  • GP per 1M $GRIND = net ÷ Σ eligible × 1,000,000, converted to GP. It's the same for everyone in a round, which is what “pro rata” means.
Show it as pseudo-code
on every transfer:
    withheld += amount × 3%

when withheld is worth selling:
    pot += swap(withheld → GP)

when pot ≥ threshold            # ≈ 0.1% of market cap, $50 min, $50k max
    net      = pot × (1 − 2.5%)
    holders = balances right now − pools − vaults − platform wallets
    eligible = [w for w in holders if w.balance × price ≥ $20]
    total    = sum(w.balance for w in eligible)
    for w in eligible:
        share = net × w.balance / total
        if share ≥ $0.02:
            send(share in GP, to w) # ~17 wallets per transaction

5. Why didn't I get a drop?

Every way a wallet can miss a round, roughly from most to least common.

I held less than $20 of $GRIND when the round fired

Eligibility is checked at the moment of each round, in dollars. If the price dropped and your stack fell under $20, you sit that round out even if you held for weeks.

My share was under $0.02

A share smaller than $0.02 isn't sent, because a transaction costs more than that. This bites in small rounds. Use the simulator to see the smallest stack paid for a given pot size.

I bought (or sold) after the snapshot

Only the balance at the moment of the round counts. Buying a minute after a round means waiting for the next pot to fill. Selling right before one means you miss it. Tokens that move between wallets are paid to whoever holds them at the snapshot.

My tokens are in a liquidity pool, a locker or an exchange

Accounts owned by programs (liquidity pools, vaults, lockers) are skipped, and so are exchange, custody and platform wallets. LP tokens don't count as holding $GRIND. Only $GRIND sitting in a normal wallet does.

The round is still being delivered

A round pays about 17 wallets per transaction, so a big one takes a while to reach everyone. The live pot shows “on its way” while that queue clears.

The pot hasn't filled yet

No volume means no tax, and no tax means no pot. Rounds only happen once the pot reaches its threshold. The progress bar in the Live drops panel shows how close the next one is.

This round paid in $GRIND instead of GP

When StonkFun holds a large share of $GRIND's supply, a round may pay holders in $GRIND itself. The system decides which asset a round uses. Check your $GRIND balance, and the “$GRIND drops” line in Check your level.

StonkFun paused or delayed the round

Collection, swaps and payouts run on StonkFun's automated systems, which depend on Solana, Raydium, Jupiter and price feeds. Safety checks can delay or halt a round. Holding $GRIND gives no right to any payout, amount or schedule.

Does my level change my drop?

Not for StonkFun's GP loot drops: a level 99 and a fresh spawn with the same balance get the same GP. Your level does matter for XP drops, the $GRIND the dev wallet recycles from its own GP loot, which are weighted up to 3× per token at level 99. See section 6.

6. Levels, loot drops and XP drops

There are two kinds of drops. Loot drops are StonkFun's: GP split by balance. XP drops are the dev wallet's: it sells its own GP loot for $GRIND and shares that with holders, weighted by level. That's where your level pays.

XP drops are discretionary: their size and timing depend on the dev wallet's GP loot and aren't guaranteed. Every one carries the on-chain memo "GRIND XP drop" and appears in the XP drops panel.

7. How we checked

StonkFun publishes the rules in its Rewards page, its Rewards disclaimer and the reward panel on every token page. We then replayed real payouts of two live reward coins paired with GP against their on-chain holder balances:

4 digitsGP per token was identical for every recipient of a round, from the smallest wallet to the largest: pure pro rata.
$22.24The smallest wallet paid held just over the $20 minimum. Nobody under it received anything.
99.9%Our simulation of a full round predicted 1,463 recipients; 1,459 were actually paid.
0 GPStonkFun's own tax wallet held about $167k of GP and received nothing, which confirms platform wallets are excluded.

This page's live numbers come from StonkFun's public API and the on-chain payout transactions. They are estimates, not promises: StonkFun can change its parameters at any time, and this page follows them automatically.
